The natural body. The original, the essential body does not exist. A body is not a fixed or natural entity but rather a malleable and mutable assemblage of technologies.

The voice, for instance, a signal transmitter of the body, a technology-laden entity, encoded with socialization, culture, linguistics, phonetics, the construction of gender. A signal amplified by the vocal tract, lung capacity, hormones, smoke particles, alcohol-induced dehydration. The signal, a carrier of information, interacts with disturbances, interferences, social and mechanical influences in its propagation path. A signal’s reach determined by room acoustics, humidity, background noise, censorship, visibility.

The receiver decodes a signal, filters out noise, and re-writes the vibrations and resonances, fabricating an unreliable and unpredictable signal—a perceived, interpreted, and projected message. The technologies between a transmitter and a receiver are in constant negotiation and intervention. The voice is a performer. The conversation, a dance between the messenger and receiver.

This is a call to all willing to transgress binaries, and to all knowing and unknowing performers of subjectivity. This experimental spoken word performance invites you to consider the technologies, instruments, and landscapes at play between a messenger and a receiver.
